Personal Prevention - Flossing

Floss comes in many forms (un-waxed, waxed, and yarn). Most people use un-waxed floss, however your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend a particular type or brand for your mouth. Types of floss
Take a 40-50cm piece of floss, wind the ends around the middle fingers of each hand. Wind the ends around the middle fingers of each hand
Then grasp the floss between your index fingers and thumbs so that about 5cm of floss is available for flossing between the teeth. Grasp the floss between your index fingers and thumbs
Starting with the back of the upper right last tooth, floss in an up and down scrubbing motion (three or four strokes is sufficient) with the floss held tightly against the surface of the tooth.
(Front teeth shown for demonstration purposes.)
Floss adaptation around the teeth
Wiggle the floss between the next two teeth and repeat the up and down scrubbing on both the front and back teeth. Make sure each in-between surface of all the teeth are flossed, and the floss passes slightly under the gum edge. Move around your mouth in an orderly fashion to make sure all the teeth are cleaned. Curve the floss around the tooth and slide the floss gently under the gum
Floss should not be shared and should be thrown away after each use.
